Privacy policy
Your game,
your device.
Moko has no accounts and keeps your progress on your device. The only data that leaves it is what the ad service and the update service need. This page explains exactly what that is.

In short
Moko is made by Adrian Cheung, an independent developer (“I”, “me”). This policy covers the Moko app for iPhone, iPad and Android, and this website.
- There's no sign-up and no account. I don't receive your name, email or contacts through the app.
- Your progress and settings are stored on your device. Only your daily puzzle results are sent to me, under a random ID and a made-up name like “Mossy Otter 42”, for the leaderboards.
- The app shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects some device data to show and measure ads. You can limit this.
- The app sends anonymous usage events (such as levels started and solved) to PostHog, so I can see where the game is too hard or too easy.
- The app doesn't use your camera, microphone, contacts, photos or precise location.
What stays on your device
Moko saves which levels you've solved, your daily results and your settings (sound and haptics) in local storage inside the app. Apart from what's described under the daily puzzle and analytics below, this data never leaves your device. Deleting the app deletes it.
Daily puzzle and leaderboards
The first time you solve a daily puzzle, the app makes a random player ID on your device. When you solve one, it sends me that ID, the day and your moves, so my server can check the solve and rank it. Leaderboards show only a name made from the ID, like “Mossy Otter 42”, never the ID itself. I store the ID, your best result for each day and when you reached it. Nothing else: no name, email, device identifier or location.
The same happens if you play the daily on this website: the random ID is kept in your browser's local storage. The leaderboard runs on Cloudflare (see below). To have your results deleted, email me the name shown on your leaderboard.
Usage analytics
To improve the game, the app sends usage events to PostHog (PostHog, Inc., servers in the United States): which screens you open, levels you start, solve or leave, moves and hints used, ads shown, purchases offered and made, and basic device information such as model, operating system, language and app version. Events carry a random ID made by the app, not your advertising identifier, and aren't used for advertising or shared to track you. See the PostHog privacy policy.
Advertising
Moko is supported by ads served by Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. Ads appear between levels, and you can choose to watch an optional video ad to earn hints.
To show ads, limit how often you see them, measure them and prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK in the app may collect:
- your device's advertising identifier: on iOS only if you allow tracking, on Android the Android advertising ID unless you've deleted it;
- your IP address, which can be used to estimate your general location (such as your country or city);
- device and app information, such as device model, operating system, language and app version;
- how you interact with ads, such as views and taps.
Where the law and your choices allow it, Google may use this data to show ads personalised to your interests. Otherwise you'll see non-personalised ads, which are based on context such as general location and the app itself. Google's use of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. Google explains it in more detail under How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
I receive only aggregated reports from AdMob, such as how many ads were shown. They don't identify you.
Your choices
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland
Before any ad is requested, Moko shows Google's consent form so you can decide whether your data may be used for personalised ads and related purposes. You can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy choices.
On iPhone and iPad
Moko asks for permission before ads may use your device's advertising identifier (App Tracking Transparency). If you decline, the identifier isn't shared. You can change this at any time in the iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
On Android
You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device's settings, under Google → Ads (the exact path depends on your device).
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, or to object to or limit its use. I hold only the random-ID data described above; requests about ad data are best made to Google, using the links above. I don't sell personal information. If you'd like help with any request, email me.
Game updates
When it starts, the app checks Expo's update service (EAS Update, run by 650 Industries, Inc.) for small updates to the game, such as new levels or fixes. This request includes technical information such as the platform, app version and update channel, and, like any internet request, your IP address. It's used only to deliver the right update. See the Expo privacy policy.
If you email me
If you write to moko@adrianc.pro, I'll use your email address and what you send only to reply and to fix the problem you've reported. I'll delete the conversation if you ask.
Children
Moko is a general-audience game and isn't directed at children under 13. I don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact me and I'll help remove it.
This website
mokogame.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts or fonts. If you switch the demo's sound on or off, that preference is saved in your browser's local storage and stays there. Pages for shared puzzles and the daily work the same way; a daily solve is sent to the leaderboard as described above. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against abuse, as described in the Cloudflare privacy policy.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. For anything about your privacy, email moko@adrianc.pro.
